No suckling pig on the menu lah
Lobster and peppers crabs very shook must try
Very delicious and the braised duck, u need to order in advance.
No. They serve pork.
i don't know but their price seems very reasonable. give them a call.
from Bedok MRT, take bus 137 and get off at the Summit. From Tanah Merah MRT exit A, take bus 48 and get orf opposite the summit.
Yes. Open area.
yup they do!
Very affordable course mea esp during CNY! Book early for reservations to avoid disappointment :)
Food is rather pricey. With that price, go eat more comfortably in a nicer restaurant.
My friend said it was not tourist destination, but catered mainly for Singaporeans. When we arrived, the place was packed with lots of Singaporean customers. The restaurant look was humble but the food was amazing. My friend ordered three big crabs (over 1 kg. each) cooked in different styles: chilli, black peppered and buttered. All Crabs were sumptuous. Deep fried chicken with crispy skin and juicy meat was really good as if I was eating Peking Duck. Actually every dish was so delicious that our group of nine finished it nearly instantly. When the bill came, it was pleasantly cheap considering all the great 8-9 dishes we devoured. One caution, though, is that you have to make reservation well in advance.
Seafoods and crabs were really nicely cooked. But there was not many carpark available at this place.
Good place to dine
The dining experience with family left us a very bitter taste! Crab was clearly taken out fron cold storage and came to us hard, and inedible. When questioned, the lady supervisor claimed their crabs are fresh, but perhaps overcooked. Years ago, they displayed their crabs and other seafood, so we get to choose. Now, seems all hidden in refrigerated boxes. Would not recommend this outlet if looking for excellent seafood. A waste of good money.
First time here. Good first impression. Nice outdoor place and great foods too
Great taste with acceptable price
The food consider not bad but the coffee rib is 👎🏻. The crab meat is not very firm (maybe off season) and Still got space for improvement.
This place offers just simple nice Chinese seafood. Nothing special but just good food. The chilli crab was great. Vege was yummy even my picky son likes it.
Very crowded. Crab not fresh because the meat too soft. The Or Ni not traditional as it should be.
Brought my parents here as I thought it will be a special walk down memory lane, having held their wedding banquet here more than 30 yrs ago. The entire place is still pretty rustic as ever. Food is still decent though not mind blowing good. I can see why its so popular. The zhi char has the homecooked kinda taste. Nothing too overpowering nor too much MSG.
Good food especially the chilli crab and pepper crab, one of the best. Roasted chicken is crispy and tender too. Nice fried fish skin as appetizer .Though the service is a bit slowly due to busy crowd
Good place to bring your friends! One of the best Chinese food in Singapore. ❤️
Noting much to say about this place..Its been here for ages and still going on for a reason.Always crowded, remember to call before hand Stop talk, take my money and give me my food...
Love the old school vibe and the alfresco dining area
One of the best zi char in Singapore that's still keeping its standard and doing well. Call or come early at 5.30pm to avoid disappointment. The deep fried baby squid, crispy duck and roast chicken is the highlight.
There is a method to the madness. We arrived on a Sunday night to a chaotic scene, sans reservation as they do not seem to pick up calls. The Kebaya top-clad waitresses appeared harried but a table was cleared for us within 10 minutes. 5 dishes arrived within 30 minutes of ordering - no mean feat given the massive dining crowd! The raucousness, when taken in the right way, added to the character of this place.
Stewed duck is one of Hua Yu Wee's signature dishes only available pre-order and then only if there are at least 4 or 5 other orders so usually only during weekendsIt is absolutely lip-smacking and I started off wondering why it's their signature dishThe poor impression is partly due to its availability (see above conditions) and also partly to its unimaginative name. The meat was firm (it came off muscle by muscle) yet was tender enough to be served by chopsticks aloneThe skin was soft and thick and I couldn't stop!!!Savoury dish that goes well with steaming hot rice yet not so salty that it can't be eaten on its ownThe only drawback to my experience was that the kitchen kept my metal takeaway containers and forgot to return me. It was one of my less forgetful days that I was lucky enough to remember and asked for them before driving off.
Forgot to upload this review which we had before the CB. This restaurant was being held in a old residence along upper East Coast road. We went during a Saturday near to 6 which there already had some crowd. Food was good that’s why I didn’t manage to take all the photos. The ngor Hiang and the beancurd is good. We ordered black pepper crabs as well which is excellent. There is limited parking there and by the time we left the whole place is already crowded with people. Do be there early or make reservation if ur heading there. Suitable for family gathering.
Delicious food and retro location. A gem in the east! Try the salt and pepper baked crab and the fresh steamed prawns.
Very tasty and nostalgia place. The braised duck is a special dish which is very soft and tender. Total price will not burnt a hole in your pocket. Definitely will come again next time. Thumbs up!!!
I think this is my new favourite seafood place in Singapore. I’ve always been a fan of New Ubin but have found their current outlets disappointing. HYW delivers, though. The chilli crab is amazing, as are the garlic prawns. Service is pretty patchy, as you’d expect in a place like this, but the food makes up for it. No corkage for wine.
Was brought here by the local team. Great ambiance, very lively. Courteous and attentive service! The food was amazing. Definitely recommend as a group experience. Beer is available.
Good atmosphere yet not worth of the price.
One of the best places for chinese authentic seafood. Must trys coffee ribs, fish and crabs. Its standing might be competitive with many big names in sg.
Chili Crab is very delicious and tasty with the bun.
Visited this some 4 years back when we still lived in the east. Food is still as good. Ordered eefu noodle, HK style steamed soon hock - steamed to perfection and super fresh, cereal prawns and butter crab.Would be back again for sure.
Cny menus worth the money for both portion as well as quality of the food. Will certainly back again. The charsiew, the fried toufu, chili crabs...Best!
An old stalwart in Singapore whipping up dishes of local favourites with particular finesse in seafood
Great atmosphere, provided valet parking, food was delicious especially the chilli crab with man tou
Aithenticate good Singapore chinese dishes, as i remember when I was a child.
Great food, but the best part is the ambience - it reminisces Singapore in the 70s. Go there before it becomes another run-of-the-mill property in the East Coast condo belt. Well, please spend some time to appreciate the architecture. :-)
Sauce is awesome! But seafood meat is normal. Seems like the seafood got not much natural sweetness to it. Seems frozen?
An old institution that serves really authentic local flavours. Love the food here. Everything is good.
The food here is fantastic. They fry the food nicely with the charcoal infused taste. Hard to find places that do it so well.
The place has really good seafood but the staff never picks up the phone and it’s nearly impossible to make a reservation.Secondly the staff mainly speaks Chinese so for a foreigner like me, it make it really difficult to order. You can go with groups so that you can enjoy various types of dishes. The price is reasonable and would recommend.Parking is also convenient.
Every year without fail we will be invited to this restaurant for a birthday celebration. This year 2 dishes stood out - flaming dumpling chicken soup and the house-made coconut ice cream! Both were expertly crafted and cooked to perfection. The last of its kind along East Coast Rd, and it is one of the best seafood restaurants in Singapore... in my opinion.
Fresh seafood with exceptional poached prawns... although the other dishes on the menu were a miss .
We chose to have the seats upstairs to keep cool. We ordered pepper crabs, fried squid, and a veggie dish. It was spinach on a bed of ice. Very crunchy and fresh. The crabs were delicious and cooked to perfection.
Good place to eat and chill with friends. Been twice now and food has never disappointed. Crispy squid is delicious..
Not many restaurants with this setup - old bungalow. In the earlier days, there were many of these bungalow style chinese restaurants but only one withstand time. Very nostalgia to be able to come back again and again. Must have the steamed prawn. Best i have even beats Ah Yat's (drunken and live). Cooking still very authentic. I enjoyed my dinner there. 😋
Parking is always a problem here, but good thing they've got valet! But that's if you can even turn into the compound without a long wait!
Wonderful place to have a dinner with friends and family. The atmosphere during the CNY was great, lots of tables of customers enjoying the food from the real young in their pram and the real old with their walking stick.Food was wonderful and tasteful, portion are large.Service was fast and prompt despite the dinner crowd when we are there for dinner over the CNY weekend.Great place for traditional Chinese food!
Nice place and good food. On downside, limited car park, especially when during festive season
Good food, reasonably priced in a traditional seafood restaurant, where decorum is forgotten when enjoying chilly crabs etc.. Valet parking available and expect to be very crowded during celebration holidays. Phone in to book. Air-conditioning dining available in an old single storey bungalow. Majority seating is tented open air area that used to be the carpark.
First impressions: a very 80s-90s feel restaurant, basically the indoor air conditioned seating area is an old house while the bigger area behind are outdoor sheltered seating. The food is good, tasty, well priced. The fengsha chicken should be pre ordered beforehand as its normally sold out fast. The black pepper crab is one of the best I've tasted in sg; the sauce is spicy, buttery and slightly creamy. Crabs are fresh too. Food quality is always consistent. Have been coming here and will be returning here for sure.
Fresh yummy seafood at reasonable price
On 10th Nov 2019@545pm went to the restaurant after reading Good reviews. I was given an open air table behind the restaurant for 3 person. We ordered Crab Meat Omelette , Spinach Soup, Tilippa Steam Fish, Starter with Cuttlefish paste , chicken wings and Chinese Tea in a metal Jug. The steam fish was very hard, the Spinnach soup was average and the most disappointing was flies in open air tables. The Service was not very Good but food came in fast.Anyone searching for authentic Chinese Seafood will be disappointed. I have eaten better quality Food. The good thing the bill was reasonable . I will not visit this restaurant again.
Nice environment with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is prompt and food is delicious and at reasonable pricing.
